Under the Hood & Licensing

Duplicati communicates directly with Microsoft 365 via the Microsoft Graph API, capturing content in native formats (such as MIME for email and JSON for structured objects) while preserving original metadata and timestamps wherever possible.

The Microsoft 365 backup module is source-available. While there are no limitations on restoring your data, running backups in a production environment requires a commercial license. Pricing is built to scale predictably at just $0.50 per Office user/month. A free limit covering up to 5 mailboxes or sites is also included, allowing you to easily test the configuration before rolling it out.
